The Rich Look Of Chocolate Labradors

September 20th, 2007

Chocolate Labradors are very popular today because
of their lovely color and they are very rich looking dogs. The Labrador
breed itself is a popular breed of dogs because they are seen in many
movies and television shows. Dog shows often show Labradors that win
awards
and prizes which is appealing to those looking for a distinguished pet.
Chocolate Labradors often do well in shows, but are more often seen in
families as both the family guard dog and the children’s play
companion. This is important because these dogs are good-natured which
makes them
ideal for children. Like all dogs they need to be trained not to jump
up on small children, chew things, and become house-trained.

Training A Chocolate Labrador

Since puppies are undisciplined they can be dangerous for children
simply because they do not yet have an understanding of what is harmful
and
what is not. This is even more true of chocolate Labrador puppies and
other large breed puppies because they grow so rapidly. They get big
and
heavy quite quickly and look as though they are full grown, yet they
are still just puppies for approximately the first year. This means
that
they have a lot of extra energy and playfulness that could cause a
problem if the puppy is not trained properly. A professional training
class is
often the best recommendation for a chocolate Labrador puppy, as it
would be for any large breed dog.

As The Puppy Grows Into A Dog

As the chocolate Labrador puppy turns into a full grown dog it will
settle down some, but chocolate Labradors are still high energy dogs
and
will remain so until they reach their senior years. This is something
that should be considered very carefully when someone is thinking of
getting a chocolate Labrador. Large breed dogs often live 10 to 12
years or more, and the energy level will remain high in these dogs for
the
first 7 to 8 years at least. This is a long time for someone to work
with and live with a high energy animal, and even though many people
will
not mind this at all, it should be considered when thinking about
whether to get a chocolate Labrador.

How To Set Up A Goldfish Tank

September 13th, 2007

Goldfish have been kept as pets longer than any other species of fish and are the most common pet found in households today. All goldfish belong to just one species: Carassius auratus. Because of this, all goldfish varieties are similar in their behavior, care and habits. Goldfish are not tropical fish and rarely require a heated aquarium.

Setting up a goldfish tank is a challenging, but rewarding, hobby. If you set up your goldfish aquarium correctly it will be much easier to maintain and manage it. Many factors are involved in the success of a tank, and there are many books available to assist the novice fishkeeper.

Selecting Your Equipment

First, you must decide on the size tank you wish to operate. When it comes to the setup of the fish tank generally the larger the tank the better. It is easier to maintain the correct chemical balance in a bigger tank and most goldfish hobbyists who start with a small tank soon find they want to upgrade. A good beginning size is around 55 gallons.

The size of the tank will determine the size of the fish tank stand needed to hold your aquarium. Be sure to take into account the finished weight of the tank, including all equipment, fish, rocks / gravel, ornaments, and of course, the heaviest component – the water. One gallon (4.5 liters) of water weighs around 10lbs (4.5kgs).

Are Fishes Really All The Same?

September 9th, 2007

When you purchase some fishes, it will be transfered into a bag of water to which air is added. Make sure that the fish is not left too long in this bag, and there is enough air to last the journey home.

Sudden and drastic environmental changes can stress or harm the fish, so you need to be extremely cautious when adding new ones to your aquarium.

When you get home, leave the tied-up bag in the aquarium for about twenty minutes or so to bring the temperature of the water in the bag in line with that of the aquarium. Then open up the bag, and add water from the aquarium, little by little, into it, so that other water factors are gradually stabilised as well. Finally, released the fish from the bag into the aquarium gently.

This process helps the fish to acclimatise to its new environment more quickly Click here for more help on fishing.
